U.S. Capitol Police arrested a House Democratic staffer Thursday morning on suspicion of trying to bring ammunition into the Cannon House office building.
Office of Congressman Joe Morrell, who represents New York's 25th Congressional District. Told WROC “We will cooperate fully with the investigation.”
“At approximately 8:45 a.m., House staff entered the Cannon House Office Building and submitted the bag for inspection. USCP staff observed what appeared to be ammunition on an X-ray screen,” Capitol Police said on Fox News. said in a statement.
“Upon searching the bag, officers found four magazines and 11 rounds of ammunition. Officers told officers they had forgotten the ammunition was in the bag,” the statement continued. Ta.

Capitol Police announced that Michael Hopkins, 38, is now charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, including a charge of possessing a high-capacity magazine.
Morel's office said Monday morning that it was gathering more information about the arrest.

Morrell's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
