Elton John lost sight in one eye due to a severe infection.
At the opening night of the musical version of The Devil Wears Prada in London on Sunday, John told the audience: “As you know, I lost my eyesight so I couldn't come to most of the screenings.'' I didn't.'' ”
“So it's hard to watch, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight,” he said.

Representatives for John did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Last week, the 77-year-old told “Good Morning America” that he lost vision in his right eye due to an infection.
“I lost my eyesight.”
“It's been four months since I lost my sight, but the condition of my left eye is not that good,” John said.

“I have hope and encouragement that it's going to be okay, but I'm kind of stuck right now because I know I can do this, but I don't know if I'm going to go into the studio and record it,” John explained, revealing: I can't read the lyrics.
“It devastated me so much,” he later added. “I can't see anything. I can't read anything. I can't see anything.”
In September, the “Tiny Dancer” singer shared on social media that she had an eye infection that was affecting her vision.

“Over the summer I have been suffering from a severe eye infection and unfortunately have limited vision in one eye,” he wrote. “I am healing, but the process is very slow and it will take some time for vision to return in the affected eye.”
The singer added, “I'm spending the summer quietly at home and feeling positive about the progress I've made in my healing and recovery so far.”

John wrote the music for “The Devil Wears Prada'' and is promoting his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,'' which premieres on Disney+ on December 13th.
