The owner of a Domino's Pizza franchise in Connecticut claims in a lawsuit that he was fired after he complained to the owner that the pizza restaurant employed illegal immigrants in violation of state and federal law.
Mohammad Nuruzzaman claims in his lawsuit that he was “fired” in November 2023 in retaliation and that his termination caused him to lose income and benefits.
The lawsuit does not name the owner of the Bridgeport-based Domino's Pizza franchise.
The complaint against 9535 Bridgeport Pizza LLC says Nuruzzaman, who was hired in 2014 and promoted to manager, also suffered “humiliation and severe physical and mental injury and suffering.”
News of this lawsuit broke last week. The Connecticut Post is a Bridgeport-based newspaper.
Nuruzzaman's lawyer declined to comment.
The newspaper has reached out to the company and an attorney for the Bridgeport Domino's Pizza franchise owner for comment.
The complaint was first filed last year, but a Connecticut Superior Court judge put the case on hold and sent it to an arbitrator.
The American Arbitration Association is scheduled to hear the case. The Post has reached out to AAA for comment.

Domino's Pizza's business structure operates under a franchise model, in which business owners pay royalty fees to the company's headquarters in exchange for permission to use the brand name and logo.
Illegal immigration has been a key issue during recent elections.
President-elect Donald Trump has promised to crack down on illegal immigration. Many illegal immigrants are employed in a variety of industries, including construction, agriculture, hospitality and leisure, food service, manufacturing, and private domestic employment.
The outgoing Biden administration was struggling to contain the growing number of migrants arriving at the southern border.
Less than a year ago, in December 2023, the Border Patrol made approximately 250,000 arrests along the southern border, a record high.
According to the latest estimates from the Department of Homeland Security, there were an estimated 11 million people in the country illegally as of January 2022.
