Trump-supporting sheriffs pledge to assist with mass deportations

In contrast to Democratic officials across the country who have pledged to protect illegal aliens, several sheriffs have come forward to offer support for mass deportations after President-elect Donald Trump takes office next month.

For Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard Jones, this kind of support is nothing new. In fact, Mr. Jones, a 71-year-old Republican who was just elected to his sixth term, worked with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump administrations.

He said the partnership was suspended during the Biden administration, but “now it's back.”

“Sheriffs…unlike police chiefs, don't usually have a boss next to their constituents.”

“We're preparing cells and spaces as we speak,” Jones said. cincinnati enquirer. “We started preparing the day after the election.”

Sheriff Chuck Jenkins (R) of Frederick County, Maryland, expressed similar sentiments. wall street journal. “I'm going to support the president 100%,” Jenkins, 68, said of Trump. “I want to do more within the law.”

Mr. Jenkins said he was motivated to support Mr. Trump after Mr. Biden's disastrous immigration policies since taking office.

“There are people who are not in custody for serious assault charges,” he said.

“Listen, they're here illegally,” Jenkins continued. “They shouldn't be here. You know, as an American citizen, I think we can't sustain this situation. Hundreds of thousands, millions of people coming into this country. We cannot continue to allow this to happen.”

Jones said 250 to 300 beds, about a third of the Butler County Jail's bed space, are reserved for illegal aliens. He said the rest of the facility is for “local” criminals. “We take care of local prisoners first,” he told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“I'm often asked, 'The people here.' [legally] In the United States, people drink and drive, kill people, and rape people. What do you say about that? And I said, I'm strong enough to deal with criminals where I come from. We don't have to deal with criminals from other countries,” Jones explained.

Jones said if the bed space allocated to undocumented immigrants is insufficient, the agency will begin transferring undocumented immigrants to other facilities.

Meanwhile, at least one Democratic sheriff may have lost his job because of his soft stance on illegal immigration. According to Sheriff Christine Graziano — Congresswoman Nancy Mace (RC), established in Charleston County, South Carolina. sanctuary county And she, who has allowed “criminal illegal immigrants to roam freely,” lost re-election last month to Republican Carl Ritchie.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal appears to be lamenting the resurgence of pro-Trump sheriffs. The newspaper said Trump's deportation plans were “opaque” and likely not “realistic.”

Furthermore, the media disparaged the American people by trying to refute President Trump's claims about illegal aliens. ”[Trump] “They argue that immigrants commit crimes, take away jobs and drive up housing costs,” the newspaper reported. “Available data shows that immigrants have lower crime rates than U.S. citizens, and analysts say immigrants work in low-paying jobs that many Americans avoid. “There is.” ”

The outlet also said that fraudulent voting by non-citizens is “extremely rare.”

The paper even seemed concerned about the “political” nature of the sheriff's office, noting that the sheriff, an elected official, answers only to people in his own community and not to other government officials. Otherwise, I write it by hand. “Sheriffs, unlike police chiefs, typically do not have a superior next to their constituents,” the newspaper said.
