Trump names Kelly Loeffler for SBA

President-elect Trump has announced plans to nominate former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) to head the Small Business Administration (SBA).

“Small businesses are the backbone of our great economy. Kelly will use his business and Washington experience to reduce red tape and unlock opportunities for our nation's small businesses to grow, innovate and thrive.” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday.

“She will focus on cracking down on waste, fraud, and regulatory overreach and holding the SBA accountable to taxpayers.”

Loeffler was previously rumored to be nominated by the former president to be Secretary of Agriculture, but President Trump ultimately chose former staffer Brooke Rollins to serve as Secretary of Agriculture.

The former Georgia senator, who served in the Senate for about a year starting in January 2020, also oversees the president-elect's inaugural committee alongside Steve Witkoff.

Loeffler has been an ardent supporter of President Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and a federal lawsuit filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis states that her affair with a fellow lawyer was not ethical. The government has firmly opposed the move, calling it an imposition.
