Dave Portnoy's unique relationship with his estranged wife has become a hot topic on the internet.
The Barstool Sports founder revealed in an interview with Sage Steele in late November that he still shares a bank account with his wife, Renee, whom he separated from in 2017 but has not officially divorced.

But we won't have that joint bank account forever.” I trust her implicitly. She has full access for a long time.”
Portnoy told Steele that although the couple split amicably, he still considers Renee her “best friend” and abused the setting because Renee is “much more frugal than I am.” He said he's never been afraid to do anything.
“We always got along and we never had a big fight or anything like that at the end. Our marriage didn't work out the way we wanted it to,” he said of the reason behind the divorce. .
The couple, who married in 2009, tried to file for divorce, but a Massachusetts judge denied the divorce last year.
“She and I have a very fluid relationship financially, so it was rejected,” Portnoy explained. “We have been legally separated for a long time, but the judge said our agreement was not fair to her.”
“[The judge] I was like, “Dave, you deserve more. You have to give her half.” But she said, “I don't need half of it.” So we pretty much agreed on how to do it [without the court]”
