Vance to travel to North Carolina to survey hurricane recovery efforts

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will visit North Carolina on Friday to review hurricane relief efforts, a spokesperson told The Hill.

He is scheduled to visit Fairview, North Carolina, weeks after Hurricane Helen caused devastation across the state and other areas.

In addition to information sessions about home improvement projects, Vance will host meetings with first responders and families affected by the disaster.

He also plans to speak with the family of firefighter Ray Garrison, a battalion chief who died while rescuing mudslide victims.

The trip comes less than a month after Vance visited the state on campaign trail.

It also comes just two days after a group of members of Congress opposed President Biden's $100 billion disaster relief effort. Congress is currently engaged in a bipartisan policy rewiring effort.

Mr. Vance will soon leave his seat in the Ohio Senate to preside over federal solutions for affected communities.
