Sources within the police community said to new york post The United Healthcare CEO's killer reportedly traveled from Atlanta to New York on a Greyhound bus last month.
The bus the suspect took left from Atlanta, but authorities are unsure whether he boarded the bus from there or at a stop along the way.
Breitbart News reported that Thompson, 50, was shot and killed just after 6:45 a.m. Wednesday outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
The hunt for the killer begins immediately and today marks the third day of the hunt.
On Thursday, the NYPD released surveillance images showing the murder suspect not wearing a mask.
ABC7 I noticed,“The suspect checked into the HI New York City Hostel on 104th Street on the Upper West Side in Amsterdam on November 30th.” During check-in, he flirted with the desk clerk and asked her to smile. After asking, he pulled down his mask.
Hours after the killing, the New York City Police Department held a press conference stating that it believed the killing was targeted and not random.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenney said the suspect was wearing a “distinctive gray backpack,” a black face mask, a light brown jacket and black and white sneakers.
He told the suspect:[ignored] There were a lot of other pedestrians,” said Thompson, who approached him from behind and shot him in the back.
