To succeed, Trump’s Middle East policy must address Israel’s Armenia problem

Now that Donald Trump has made a successful political comeback and will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States, we can finally look forward to how he will address the incoming administration's long list of agenda items: Inflation, immigration, policy, etc. Energy, crime.

He has his hands full.

Israel and Turkey already agree on sending money and arms to Azerbaijan for the express purpose of wiping out the tiny Republic of Armenia.

But for now, let's focus on his foreign policy, particularly how he deals with the increasingly complex situation developing in Israel and other parts of the Middle East.

good guys vs bad guys

President Trump staunchly supports Israel in the nation's campaign against Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and other Iranian proxy terrorist networks. But statements from both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu oversimplify the situation.

America and Israel are good guys.

Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah are the bad guys.

That's how establishment Republicans frame the situation. Simple but effective.

But it's not that simple, and Trump's recent moves actually complicate his approach to that framework.

As we know, the Middle East is actually a mixture of shifting, overlapping, and intersecting alliances. And because it is so The ethnic and religious diversity within this pocket of the world.

There is no Muslim monolith

Contrary to popular Western perception, the Middle East is not a big brown monolith of Muslims. The Turks are do not have Sunni Arabs who are not Shiite Persians, Christian Armenians who are not, moderately secular Muslim Azerbaijanis who are not Maronite Lebanese, and Coptic Egyptians who are not.

Each of these groups differs greatly in ethnicity, culture, and religion. Therefore, there are no clear boundaries in terms of political alliances in the Middle East. At the very least, there is no simple “good versus bad” heuristic that can be used to evaluate the situation.

And yet, this is the framework of American foreign policy, and the media says, “The Middle East is full of Muslim bad guys (they're all the same) and we're the only Judeo-Christian in the Middle East.'' We need to protect this oasis of democracy.” ”

Our past and future presidents have recently taken actions that slightly undermine the legitimacy of that framework.

President Trump given pills in Armenia

In the days leading up to the election, President Trump announced their determination to help Christians Victims of Muslim persecution in the Middle East. Specifically, he was referring to the 120,000 Armenians who were ethnically cleansed from their historic homeland of Artsakh by Azerbaijan.

he went this far Calling the Patriarch of the Armenian Apostolic ChurchHis Holiness Aram I, on the mobilization of Armenia to rebuild Artsakh.

From where I sit, this is a clear result of President Trump surrounding himself with advisers such as: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.., Vivek Ramaswamyand Tulsi Gabbardall of them issued statements showing support for Armenia against its various regional adversaries.

But the simple act of demonstrating a commitment to supporting Christian Armenians actually creates a series of complications for the Trump administration.

And it all has to do with the triangular relationship between the United States, Israel, and Turkey.

Supporting Azerbaijan

As the whole world knows, Israel started a war in Gaza after the brutal attack by Hamas on October 7th.

how far in the world I don't At the time of the attack, Israel was already involved in another conflict and was known to be supporting it (along with the US State Department). ethnic cleansing movement against the Armenian enclave of Artsakh.

And just one week after the October 7th attack, transportation of weapons Depart Tel Aviv and head to Baku, Azerbaijan.

And Israel did not give up. Israel has dropped all sorts of bombs on both Gaza and Lebanon, and continues to send them (along with Turkey) in the midst of it. cutting edge weapons To Azerbaijan, recently September 24th.

If you follow the news closely, you'll also know that there have been quite a few clashes between Turkey and Israel. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has escalated tensions with Israel with attacks on Hamas, including recently: I'm calling The ICC's decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders was “courageous”; host Hamas in Turkey after the terrorist organization was expelled from Qatar.

It certainly appears that Muslim Turks are waging war against Israel from the outside.

But how much of this is theater?

After all, Israel relies on Turkey and Azerbaijan for 40% of its oil through the BTC pipeline (starting in Baku and ending in Ceyhan, Turkey).

And, as already mentioned, both Israel and Turkey are in agreement in sending money and arms to Azerbaijan for the express purpose of decimating the already small Republic of Armenia.

However, this still does not cover the full scope of the hostile relationship between Israel and Armenia.

Land grab in Jerusalem?

As you know, the state of Israel is not only inhabited by Jews and Muslims. It is home to about 187,000 Christians, of whom about 5,000 are Armenians. The Old City of Jerusalem has historically been divided into four districts: the Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, the Muslim Quarter, and the Armenian Quarter.

This Armenian community dates back to the 4th century, but has recently been under siege by a shadowy Israeli corporation called Zana Capital. At issue is the Cow Garden, the last large square in Jerusalem's Old City. In 2021, the Armenian Patriarchate agreed to secretly lease 25% of the Armenian area to a Jewish-Australian developer for 98 years.

The community claims the lease is illegal and is fighting to have it invalidated in court. meanwhile, gray zone Xana Capital reports hiring Israeli settlers This is to intimidate Armenians into leaving their land.

What I am saying is that the structure of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the 10/7 attacks is that Israel has been fighting for survival against bloodthirsty Muslims and needs as much aid and support as possible from the United States. That's what it means. It can be gathered.

However, there is one glaring flaw in this story. That is, Israel is directly involved in the collapse and dispersion of the Armenian state.

In summary:

Israel continues to send weapons to Azerbaijan before, during, and after October 7th.

Israel is currently confiscating historic Armenian neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

All this is happening in the midst of a crusade against Hamas and Hezbollah.

My question is when is the US going to prioritize Middle Eastern Christians over the other two Abrahamic faiths? We are a Christian nation, right?

help wanted

This is why President Trump's pre-election promises to Christians in the Middle East are complicated. It's not as simple as saying “Muslims are bad and Israel is good.”

As mentioned earlier, Trump seems to have pro-Armenian supporters in his cabinet (RFK Jr., Vivek, Tulsi, and even Marco Rubio). But he also has many pro-Israel supporters (Elise Stefanik, Kristi Noem, Lee Zeldin, Mike Huckabee, Susie Wiles, Pete Hegseth, and Marco Rubio). Not to mention the appointment of pro-Turkish Dr. Oz as head of Medicare and Medicaid.

So it looks like it's going to be an eventful journey so far.

in Post-election interview with Tucker CarlsonRFK Jr. talked about witnessing President Trump draw an accurate map of the Middle East from memory, including each country's military strength. It is clear from this single exchange that Trump has a keen understanding of the geopolitical and strategic military dynamics of the Middle East.

This means he also knows that stability in the region can never be taken for granted. I would like to encourage him to look at the developments taking place between Israel, Turkey and Azerbaijan and assess the situation. All Turan Vision Cooked by these parties.

There's no getting around it if he's serious about helping Christians in the Middle East.
