China Hasn’t Used TikTok to Steal Data, Influence Americans ‘To Date’

On Friday's broadcast of Bloomberg's “Balance of Power,” Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said that “so far” China has “not used TikTok for any purpose.” TikTok is a “potential danger'' because it has not been implemented.'' Either by stealing information about Americans or by trying to influence Americans. ”

“I remain deeply uncomfortable with the U.S. government telling the American people that there are certain news outlets they don't have access to,” Himes said. “I'm currently the ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee. has a pretty specific sense of what China is capable of. And so far, they've used TikTok as a way to steal information about Americans or as a way to try to influence Americans. I also know that we're not using that. So we're talking about potential danger, there's no question about that. But just before the appellate court ruling. I believe it was today that I thought it was clearly unconstitutional for the government to take this position, and it would now go to the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court for a final decision on constitutionality. I think it will be.”
