President Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysée Presidential Palace in Paris. The two leaders reportedly held discussions highlighting the bilateral relationship between the United States and France.
President Macron said of President Trump: “It is a great honor for the French people to be able to welcome you back in five years.'' “And then you became president for the first time. And I remember your solidarity and your immediate action. Well, thank you again. I'm so glad you're here.”
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy also joined the talks, further expanding the scope of international diplomacy during Trump's visit. The conference reflects continued efforts to address major global issues and maintain international alliances.
Ahead of the meeting, President Trump said the world leaders would discuss that “the world is a little crazy right now.”
“We have a great relationship. As everyone knows, we accomplished a lot together,” Trump said of Macron. “And the French people are amazing.”
After the ceremony, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Prince William, who will be attending on behalf of his father, King Charles III.
President Biden is not expected to attend the event, but First Lady Jill Biden did attend.
Prince William was scheduled to meet the first lady at the British residence in Paris, but the meeting was canceled due to the weather and they will meet at a ceremony instead.
