Carson Beck withdrew from the SEC title game Saturday with a hand injury, according to coach Kirby Smart.
With one second left in the first half, Beck tried to throw deep to give Georgia its first lead of the game.
It appeared that he was hit and injured when he threw the ball.

Beck was quickly attended to by trainers and coaches, but was slow to stand up. He jogged off the field on his own, but it was clear that something was wrong.
Smart said in an interview with ESPN near the end of the first half that Beck would not be able to leave the game with this injury. However, Georgia reserve Gunner Stockton sat out the game, and Smart told ESPN at the start of the second half that Beck would not be returning.

It wasn't pretty for the Bulldogs, who made just a few field goals in the first half with Beck under center.
On the bright side, the Texas offense, led by Quinn Ewers, wasn't very good. The Longhorns made two field goals and led 6-3 at the half.
A loss would mark the first time Georgia has lost three games in a season since 2018. This is the Bulldogs' first loss to a team other than Alabama since 2020, when they lost to Ole Miss in Oxford.

Beck is expected to be an early pick in April's NFL Draft.
