Tyler O’Neill bolts Red Sox for Orioles on $49.5 million contract

Tyler O'Neal is leaving Boston but will remain in the American League East.

The outfielder is heading south to Baltimore to join the Orioles on a three-year, $49.5 million contract. The Post's Jon Heyman reported Saturday..

O'Neal was traded to the Red Sox last season, and after two slow seasons before concluding his tenure with the Cardinals in 2022 and 2023, his power stroke flourished.

The slugger hit 31 home runs and had a .511 slugging percentage in just 113 games as he missed games with a concussion, knee inflammation and a leg infection.

Over seven seasons in the major leagues, O'Neal has batted .246/.322/.469 with 109 home runs and 278 RBIs.

He particularly destroyed lefties, posting a career OPS of over 133 against southpaws.

In good news for a right-handed hitter like O'Neal, the Orioles announced earlier this offseason that the team plans to: To bring the left field wall closer to the stadium's original dimensions. 2025 after the team moves the fence deeper and higher in 2022.

O'Neal, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, is capable of playing all three outfield positions, but only played corner in Boston.
