Will Bears RB D’Andre Swift play in Week 14 vs. 49ers?

of chicago bears They haven't had the season they expected when they started 4-2 through the first six games. They have lost six straight since the infamous Jaden Daniels Hail Mary firing head coach. Another team that is in a similar spiral this season is san francisco 49ers Running back D'Andre Swift has been a key part of the Bears' offense this season, and they hope to have him available on Sunday.

D'Andre Swift injury status

According to Ali Meilov of the 33rd team: The Bears have listed running back D'Andre Swift as doubtful for Sunday's game against the 49ers after injuring his quadriceps. Swift did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. However, the Bears' running backs participated Friday, but at limited capacity. Interim head coach Thomas Brown said: Swift appears to be in good condition, but the team plans to monitor him over the next few days. Swift will be a player to watch Sunday as the Bears take on the 49ers in the second-half time slot at 4:25 p.m. ET.

What D'Andre Swift's injury means for fantasy football

There were times this season when running back D'Andre Swift felt like a key part of the Bears offense. Swift hasn't been as aggressive with his game plan over the past two weeks, but a lot of that is due to the Bears continuing to play catch-up in the fourth quarter. Swift has shown this season that he is capable of epic fantasy performances.

Swift is the RB19 in PPR leagues this season, but he has more games with 20 points or more than Lions RB5 Jahmil Gibbs. The difference between the two players is their consistency outside of those games.

That being said, Swift has shown that he can take advantage of favorable matchups when he has them and find good fantasy production. He'll have one on deck this week against the 49ers, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to running backs this season. Unlike the past two weeks, if the Bears can keep this game close, Swift could have another RB1-level week.

Things get interesting for the Bears if Swift can't play. Backup running back Roshon Johnson has already been listed as a candidate to miss Sunday. Therefore, the player likely to be the primary ball carrier in the run game is Travis Homer. Additionally, Darrington Evans would be a candidate to be promoted from Sunday's practice squad.

If Swift plays, he should be in fantasy lineups, especially given his upside against vulnerable opponents. It's even harder to say the same for Homer or Evans, but this matchup could be beneficial if you need a running back for the final bye week of the season.
