The NFC West is one of the most competitive divisions in football this season, with all four teams tied by just two games. However, the winner of the Seahawks vs. Cardinals game will secure a solid position in the division heading into the final stretch of the NFL season. The Seahawks will be hoping starting running back Kenneth Walker will be available for Sunday's game.
Kenneth Walker injury status
According to Michael Sean Dugar of The Athletic:Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Walker continues to recover from ankle and calf injuries this week. Walker was a limited participant on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday and Friday. Asked about the running back situation heading into Sunday, Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald said: “I don't know right now. We'll talk about plans as far as whether we want to make any moves or bring it into Sunday's game. Right now. I don't know where.”
This statement doesn't bode well for the Seahawks' head coach, who appears to be leaning toward not playing. Still, he will be a player to watch on Sunday. The Seahawks will face the Cardinals in the afternoon slot at 4:05 p.m. ET.
What Kenneth Walker's injury means for fantasy football
Walker had a normal workload in last week's away win. new york jets 49 yards on 16 carries. Since returning in Week 4, Walker has been a solid RB1, ranking as the RB10 with 20 or more points in three games during that span. If Walker is unable to play, it will definitely affect fantasy lineups.
That being said, the Seahawks do have a good backup option behind Walker in Zach Charbonnet. Charbonnet was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round last year after a productive final season at UCLA. Without Walker in the lineup in Weeks 2 and 3, Charbonnet had 32 carries for 129 yards and three touchdowns. The past two weeks have been enough to make him an RB6.
Charbonnet has proven to be capable of strong fantasy performance without Walker. Without Walker, Charbonnet would see a significant increase in usage, making him a must-have starter in fantasy lineups. Charbonnet could be the Seahawks' primary ball carrier and post a top-10 running back performance. The Cardinals defense ranks in the middle of the pack against points allowed this season, allowing the eighth-most EPA per rush.
