Columbia group’s antisemitic newspaper draws outrage from NY lawmaker, as university investigates

Columbia University students are distributing an anti-Semitic newspaper called “Columbia Intifada,'' and one New York state lawmaker is complaining about its influence.

Copies of a newspaper started by students belonging to an anti-Israel club were distributed on campus. It includes articles titled “Zionist peace means Palestinian blood'' and “The myth of the two-state solution.'' The New York Post reported. Please note that the identity of the author has not been disclosed.

The Columbia newspaper released a statement about the paper on Friday.

“Using Columbia's name in a publication that glorifies violence and makes people in our community feel targeted in any way violates our values,” it reads. . “As we have repeatedly stated, discrimination, incitement of violence and terrorism is unacceptable and contrary to the ideals of our community. We are investigating this incident through our appropriate offices and policies. Masu.”

The paper said the publication worried some Jewish students.

“When you see titles like 'the two-state solution myth,' these people don't want peace,” said Brooke Chasalow, 20.

Another student, who declined to identify herself, said she was “supportive.”

“We encourage diversity of thought in schools that are censored,” she told the Post.

The Ivy League university was plagued by anti-Israel protests during the spring semester, prompting the school to cancel university-wide commencement ceremonies and make changes to campus safety ahead of the start of the new academic year early this fall. Ta.
