American Airlines will not resume flights to Haiti in February due to escalating gang violence. Caribbean country.
A company spokesperson told FOX Business the company continues to evaluate the possibility of resuming daily flights to Haiti from Miami International Airport.
“American Airlines has made the difficult decision to suspend daily service between Miami (MIA) and Port-au-Prince, Haiti (PAP),” a spokesperson said. “We are proud of our commitment to Haiti for more than 50 years and will continue to monitor the situation, assess safety, security, customer demand, and assess the resumption of service. We will continue to proactively reach out to affected customers and provide them with a full refund for their travel itinerary. ”
American Airlines is one of several airlines, including Spirit and JetBlue, that had already suspended flights to and from Haiti after Spirit and JetBlue jets were hit by gunfire last month amid heightened civil unrest. .

Travel within Haiti is at your own risk,” the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince said last month. “The U.S. government cannot guarantee your safety at the airport, at the border, or during subsequent travel. You should consider your own safety situation before traveling within Haiti.”
