Rep. Eli Crane Wants to Award Daniel Penny with Congressional Gold Medal

Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) announced Tuesday that he has introduced a resolution to award the Congressional Gold Medal to Daniel Penny for his “heroic acts.”

A New York City jury announced Monday that Penny, a Marine Corps veteran, was found not guilty of manslaughter in the death of Jordan Neely during a subway altercation last year.

Republicans hailed the verdict as justice for the hero who saved lives.

“I have formally introduced a resolution to award the Congressional Gold Medal to Daniel Penny for his heroic actions,” Crane posted on X.

“Courage must always triumph over moral cowardice. Thankfully, our justice system made the right decision yesterday,” he added.

The resolution includes Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), Rep. Andrew Ogles (R-Tenn.), and Rep. Nicholas Langworthy (R-Texas). Five co-sponsors include Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) and Tom McClintock (R-Calif.). .
