President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will nominate Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece.
The president-elect made the announcement from his Truth Social account on Tuesday.
“Today, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as U.S. Ambassador to Greece,” he said. “For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics, as well as her keen intellect, make her the best person to represent the United States and protect our interests abroad. I have the qualifications.”
“Kimberley is well-suited to foster a strong bilateral relationship with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” it added.
Guilfoyle welcomed the nomination in a social media post.
“I am honored to accept President Trump's nomination to be the next ambassador to Greece and look forward to receiving the support of the U.S. Senate,” he said.
“As ambassador, I look forward to implementing President Trump's policies, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity,” she added.
Kimberly Guilfoyle was originally considered to be press secretary in Donald Trump's first administration in 2016 until Sean Spicer took over, as she was then under contract to Fox News.
