An 80-year-old Texas Army veteran who was left in a coma after being beaten during a parking dispute has been taken off life support as his alleged attacker faces more felony charges.
Earl Hollins was involved in a fatal altercation in the parking lot of Houston's Foodtown Supermarket on Friday, where he was knocked to the ground and left in a coma at a local hospital. KTRK-TV News reported.
The next day, he was declared brain dead, removed from life support and died, the media reported.
“It wasn't right,” Hollins' niece, Erma Hollins-Washington, told KTRK. “That wasn't human.
“I said, ‘Oh my god!’ It’s on top of the parking lot,” she said. “You're going to hurt my uncle, and now, finally, he's dead, and it was on top of the parking lot.”
Anthony Boyce, 57, was arrested in the incident and charged with aggravated assault. He was being held in the Harris County Jail on $200,000 bail, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
However, the fees are now expected to increase.

Relatives told reporters that Hollins and Boyce knew each other because they frequented the grocery store, but it was unclear how well they knew each other.
