Mr. Cornyn and Mr. Ratcliffe met at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Cornyn said he thought Ratcliffe was an excellent pick for Trump and predicted he would be one of the most “boring” people in the Senate's confirmation hearings.

The Texas senator also touched on some of President Trump's other nominees, including FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“I want to make sure that we restore the reputation of these agencies, departments like the FBI and the Department of Justice, and the intelligence community, and restore their reputation as non-political institutions,” said Sen. Cornyn (R-Texas). ” he said. “It's very important that they're not political institutions. And that's what I'm asking these candidates about their commitment to doing just that.”

Cornyn went on to say that he doesn't believe Trump was elected to maintain the status quo, but to change the direction of the country.
