south dakota state police said A teacher has been arrested on sexual exploitation charges after students pretended to be underage girls on Snapchat to catch them in the act.
Huron Police said officers were contacted by the Huron Middle School principal after a parent saw images about the student on social media. The boy said he opened the hoax account after a sixth-grade girl claimed to have received offensive messages from her teacher.
“The student told police that he used the Pinterest images to 'catfish' his teacher.”
The student opened a hoax account posing as a 14-year-old girl and sent messages to a 28-year-old teacher identified as Zachary Kaderabek. Another student opened another account posing as the sister of the first hoax account and also exchanged messages with Kaderabek.
Police said Kaderabek allegedly admitted to sending four images of his penis to the student in a Snapchat message.
Kaderabek was charged Monday with two counts of solicitation of a minor and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The Huron School Board voted Tuesday to move him from paid administrative leave to unpaid administrative leave.
Huron School District Superintendent Craig Steinhoff said, statement told KELO-TV about their actions regarding Kaderabek.
“The Huron School District is in contact with legal counsel and cooperating with law enforcement. All policies, procedures and laws are being followed,” Steinhoff said in part.
The student told police he used the Pinterest images to “catfish” his teacher. His hoax account was called “Kate.”
Kaderabek's arraignment is scheduled for January 14.
