Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, has donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural committee.

The surprising move came after the tech giant's president had dinner with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in November.
“He has made it clear that he wants to support America's national renewal under President Trump's leadership,” said incoming White House deputy director for policy Stephen Miller.
During the campaign, Mr. Zuckerberg refused to publicly support Mr. Trump or his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris. But Zuckerberg praised the Republican president-elect's response to the assassination attempt on his life in July.
Zuckerberg called the sight of Trump raising his fist in the air after being shot in the ear “one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life.”
This appears to be Mehta's first contribution to the inaugural fund, as he did not make similar contributions to President Joe Biden's 2020 fund or President Trump's 2016 inaugural fund.
