LOGAN, Utah (AP) – A federal judge in Utah has sentenced Louisiana rap artist NBA YoungBoy to prison on gun-related charges after he admitted possessing a weapon despite being a convicted felon. He was sentenced to just under two years.
The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Golden, reached an agreement to resolve charges against him in Utah and two federal charges against him. One sentenced him to 23 months in prison, and the other sentenced him to five years of probation and a $200,000 fine.
Golden, 25, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, reached an agreement with federal prosecutors in September, and he and his attorney signed the agreement on Tuesday, court documents show.

Law enforcement in Utah raided Golden's home in April after he was accused of posing as a doctor to obtain prescription painkillers, multiple news outlets reported. As part of his federal plea agreement, he Pleaded guilty to 10 state charges The penalty is imprisonment and a $25,000 fine.
Mr. Golden apologized to the court and his family before federal Judge Howard Nielson handed down his sentence. KSL.com reported.
“I surrendered to my situation,” Golden said. He added, “I take full responsibility.”
Neilson said he hopes Golden will reach a point where he can make decisions that are “totally untethered” to drugs, and that completing court-ordered substance abuse treatment and mental health evaluations will help him “walk the straight and narrow.” We have to walk,'' he said.
