Elton John calls marijuana legalization ‘one of the greatest mistakes of all time’ after addiction struggles

Elton John has strong feelings about legalizing marijuana.

Rock star nominated by Time magazine icon of the year This week, he spoke to the outlet about his illustrious career, which at one point was affected by his addiction to drugs and alcohol. John's experience with addiction led him to take a firm stance against marijuana use.

“I claim it's addictive,” he said. “That leads to other drugs. And when you get stoned, and I get stoned, you don't think normally.”

He added: “Legalizing marijuana in the US and Canada is one of the biggest mistakes in history.”
