Opinions are divided among Democrats over President-elect Donald Trump's attendance at the inauguration ceremony.
In 2017, there were reportedly around 60 members. did not attend Trump's inauguration, but before he defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a landslide, shifted 48 states to the right, and won the mandate to govern.
“I have no idea what we're going to celebrate at his inauguration,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.). USA Today. “I hadn't gotten to that point yet. I blocked it out.”
“That's a good question,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) said of attending the historic event. “I haven't thought about it.”
Other non-committal Democrats reportedly include Rep. Maxwell Frost (R-FL), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA). State) and Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).
Many Democrats remain adamant no-shows, using the excuse of celebrating Martin Luther King Day, the same day as the inauguration. They include Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Ohio), Representative Judy Chu (D-Calif.), and Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas).
“I'm going to go to town to honor Dr. King with my constituents,” Pressley said. “I don't think being there means that.”
“I'm not going to normalize who or what he represents,” Crockett asserted.

It is currently unclear whether Trump's predecessors, who attended in 2017, will attend next month.
The offices of former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama said there are no dates announced for either president at this time. Former President Bill Clinton's office did not respond to a request for comment.
A Carter Center spokeswoman said the 100-year-old 39th president, who has been in hospice care for the past two years, will not attend for health reasons, but would have otherwise gone.
