Football community rallies around NFL legend Randy Moss after revealing cancer diagnosis

The football world rallied around NFL legend Randy Moss after the former wide receiver announced he had been diagnosed with cancer during an Instagram livestream on Friday.

Moss said he was hospitalized for six days for surgery. The former Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots wide receiver said doctors discovered cancer in his bile duct, “just between the pancreas and the liver.”

“I'm a cancer survivor,” Moss said. “There were some difficult times, but we got through it.”

Moss' former teammates and teams posted statements of support for the former wide receiver on social media.

Former Patriots teammate Julian Edelman posted: “Mental strength in human form. We're all in this together 81. We love you.”

“We love you Randy. Dominating your opponents is what you've always done and I'm sure you'll do it again! You got this!” Rob Gronkowski posted.

Moss stepped down from his role as an analyst on ESPN's “Sunday NFL Countdown” on Dec. 6.

“As soon as I'm well enough to be back with everyone, I'll be on set…I hope to be able to be with everyone soon,” Moss said.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer played 14 seasons in the NFL, ranking second on the Vikings' all-time receiving yards list with 9,316.

The six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro will turn 48 in February.
