After it emerged that the Biden administration had begun selling off what appeared to be some unused border wall materials, Texas was considering purchasing the pieces to donate to the incoming Trump administration. Texas officials determined that most of the materials were junk, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said in a report.
Earlier this week, Daily Wire reporter James Larino revealed The Biden administration was secretly moving supplies from border areas to government surplus auction sites.
The next day, Lieutenant Governor Patrick appeared on Fox News and said Texas should buy the materials and donate them to the incoming Trump administration, Breitbart News reported.
“I'm sending a message to the White House right now: I'm going to bid on all of that wall, buy it in Texas, and give it to Donald Trump,” Patrick told Laura Ingraham.
On Friday, Patrick posted on X that Gov. Greg Abbott previously directed the Texas Facilities Commission to consider purchasing available materials.
“The Texas Facilities Commission told us today that most of the materials being sold are junk and most of the panels are covered in concrete and rust,” the lieutenant governor wrote. “There were some panels that might be usable, but it just wasn’t worth the cost of shipping them from Arizona to Texas.”
U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) also posted a comment saying that most of the material was cut by human smugglers or was scrap from sections blown up in incomplete construction zones.
“In short, this is a ploy by Biden to gain support from the pro-open borders radical left, and to show that Biden is fighting President Trump to the bitter end,” Patrick concluded. Rest assured, if we sell a panel that makes economic sense, we will buy it and give it to President Trump when he takes office. ”
