Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi underwent successful hip replacement surgery after being injured during a trip to Luxembourg.

Ian Crager, a spokesman for Pelosi (D-Calif.), said Pelosi's surgery was successful and she is “recovering well.”

“Earlier this morning, the Honorable Pelosi underwent hip replacement surgery and is recovering well,” Craiger said in a statement. “President Pelosi would like to thank the U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and the medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.”
