I I never thought that primer would be such an important part of my makeup routine. For me, the primer was just another step I didn't have time for. So I skipped it. It's dangerous. What I have long realized is that a proper primer is essential for a (quality) makeup finish. Evenly and dewy, it moisturizes all subsequent bases. This basically means making sure everything on your face doesn't slide off before you head down the street. Applying makeup without primer is like painting over wallpaper. You think it's okay. Then compare it to a wall that was primed, cleaned, and primed before painting. And then you get that “aha” moment. You can't compare the two. But aside from the time factor, I understand why many people don't use primer. Historically, the texture and formula have been a little greasy and ironically don't mix well with foundation, leaving a build-up effect. Nowadays, the choice is better and wider, not only in texture (powders, sprays, balms) but also in finishes (blurring, mattifying, shine) to meet all your needs. This means you no longer have to worry about the primer making you look like an old jumper with a raised face.
