Man’s body found at scene of NYC apartment fire

A man was found dead in a Queens apartment after a fire early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The body of the man, whose identity has not been released, was found inside a home on 190th Lane between 192nd Street and 69th Street in Fresh Meadows after firefighters extinguished the fire, authorities said.

According to the department, firefighters were called to the scene just after 7:15 a.m.

FDNY officials said the flames were extinguished within 30 minutes and a body was discovered inside shortly after.

Photos from the scene show bodies being carried out of 12 apartment blocks on stretchers.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and other details regarding the man's death are not yet known.

The fire occurred a day after a 78-year-old man was killed in a fire inside an Upper West Side apartment on the 10th floor of a senior housing facility.
