Joe Burrow's recent monster offensive day still wasn't enough to satisfy the Bengals quarterback, but he let his coaches know that.
Burrow and Cincinnati coach Zac Taylor have a heated exchange on the bench late in the fourth quarter of the Bengals' 37-27 win over the Titans on Saturday, with the frustrated star dropping multiple F-bombs. The incident was captured on Fox's camera.
When the Bengals won 37-21, Burrow apparently said, “Fuck, that's embarrassing.”
Burrow later appeared to add, “Fuck you,” and “Today was the worst.”
Burrow completed 26 of 37 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions.
During the game, he set a franchise record with 36 touchdown passes in a season.
This is the sixth consecutive game in which he has thrown three or more touchdown passes, all of which came in the first half.
The Bengals were also flagged 14 times in the game for a combined 10 turnovers.
When asked about the postgame abuse, Burrow pointed to the team's lack of sharpness on offense.
“I was just frustrated that day,” Burrow said. “We were too sloppy. Too many penalties, too many procedural penalties. Too many turnovers. It was just a frustrating day offensively.”
Taylor did not elaborate on his conversation with Barrow.
Asked about the exchange, Taylor told reporters: “It was just an exchange.”
It's been a frustrating season for the Bengals. Despite playing at an MVP level, Burrow is 6-8 and well outside of the AFC playoff spots.
They haven't been able to dig themselves out of a hole since their 1-4 start.
