Stupid crooks smash flatbed truck through store doors, try stealing ATM using cable attached to truck — and fail miserably

Two men with brain cells in Washington state drove a flatbed truck through the double doors of a Walgreens store and tried to steal an ATM inside the store using a cable attached to the truck, but their plan failed miserably.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, a commercial burglary alert was activated at 4:41 a.m. on Dec. 9, when officers responded to the Walgreens store in the 12000 block of Pacific Avenue South in Parkland, where they found themselves at the front door of the store. Officials said it was completely destroyed. And ATMs suffered major damage. Parkland is about 20 minutes south of Tacoma.

Officials said investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspects using a flatbed pickup truck to break through the front door, and also saw the suspects hook a cable to an ATM and use the truck to drag it away. He added that he tried to leave.

Officials said the cable ultimately snapped the ATM in half, but the part containing cash was still intact and bolted to the floor.
