Southwest has a page on its website under its Help Center that shares information for large customers.
“Customers encroaching on some of the adjacent seats may proactively purchase the required number of seats in advance of their trip to secure additional seats,” it states.
It added, “Southwest Airlines will refund any additional seats you purchase upon request. Please request a refund after your trip is complete.”
This site does not define any requirements to be considered a customer of any size.

Southwest Airlines has announced that it will launch a seat reservation model this year.
The airline's website's “News” page states, “We will begin selling tickets with seat reservations in the second half of 2025 for travel in the first half of 2026.”

American Airlines has a section on its website for customers interested in “extra space while traveling.”
“If you require more than one seat to travel comfortably and safely, you must call our reservations department to reserve additional seats. Please let us know your seating needs when booking your trip.” listed on the company's website.
Delta also provides information on purchasing additional seats.
“Customers may purchase additional seats for each flight on their itinerary,” Delta's website states.
If purchased at the same time, seats will be sold at the same fare.
“Customers who do not purchase additional seats in advance run the risk of having to change seat assignments to another location on the aircraft that provides additional space. will be rebooked on the flight,” the site continued.
