The Jets began interviews for their new general manager on Monday with former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff.
Dimitrov coached Atlanta from 2008 to 2020, during which time the Falcons won 109 games with six playoff appearances and one Super Bowl appearance.
The 58-year-old is the first known candidate to interview for the job vacated when the team fired Joe Douglas last month. The Jets are scheduled to interview former Titans GM Jon Robinson this week and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick in the near future.
The Jets will be able to begin interviewing candidates who are not currently employed by NFL teams. You'll have to wait until the end of the season to talk to anyone currently working in the league.

Dimitrov served as the Patriots' director of college scouting from 2003 to 2007 before joining the Falcons. He selected quarterback Matt Ryan with the No. 1 pick in the 2008 draft with the No. 3 overall pick.
His biggest move as GM was the blockbuster trade that saw him draft wide receiver Julio Jones from No. 26 to No. 6 in the 2011 draft.
The high point of Dimitrov's time in Atlanta came in 2016, when the Falcons made it to the Super Bowl. They famously blew a 28-3 lead over the Patriots in that game, but things went downhill from there.
Dimitrov was fired after the Falcons started 0-5 in 2020.
The Jets were without a key piece of their defense Sunday, with cornerback DJ Reed out with a groin injury.
There was optimism that Reed would play late last week, but he was listed as questionable on Friday and was ruled out on Saturday. Rookie Quantez Stigers started in his place, splitting time with Kendall Sheffield, who was removed from the practice squad on Saturday.
“It just wasn't right,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said of Reed's groin. At the same time, we didn't want to put them in harm's way because we had a lot of faith in Stigers and Scheff and wanted to take a long look at them and[Jarrick Bernard-Converse]. At the same time, look at these young players. ”
Jets DT Quinnen Williams injured his hamstring during the game, Ulbrich said. He was unsure of the extent of the injury or whether Williams would miss time. Williams hasn't missed a game since 2022.
Safety Jalen Mills injured his collarbone after intercepting a pass in Sunday's game. CB Michael Carter left the game with a back injury that has been bothering him since Week 5. Carter has a herniated disc in his back.
