The tragic school shooting in Madison, Wis., on Monday was what Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers had in mind when he addressed the media in his opening statement about the situation on Monday. That was it.
“I don't have much to say. It's unfortunate that things like this keep happening,” Rivers said of the shooting that left two people dead and six injured.
“Kids can't go to school safely and we just don't seem to be doing anything about it. I'm not going to get up on the podium here and give a long speech. I'm just saying it's bad. We're thinking about them. ”

Rivers has previously expressed his opinions on several non-basketball topics, including this year's presidential election.
But he also touched on gun violence in the United States, following the 2018 mass shooting in California.

“It's just sad, it really is. It's sad. Gun violence. … I don't know what that means.” [we say enough]'' Rivers said. Yahoo Sports.
“Guns are terrorists, and until we understand that, terrorist attacks will continue. It's sad.”

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has also spoken out about gun violence, recently endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
At least two people were killed and six others were injured in the mass shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.
On Monday afternoon, Madison Police Chief Shon Berners announced that a teacher and a teenage student had been killed and said the shooter's family was cooperating with police. Two students were in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, and a teacher and three others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Madison police have not yet released the shooter's gender or age. They identified a “juvenile” believed to be the gunman in the shooting, who died at the scene.

“Every child in that building, every person, is a victim and will forever be a victim. We are trying to figure out and piece together what exactly happened. There is a need,” Burns said.
