A Florida man has been arrested on child abuse charges after he allegedly physically abused a child by screaming obscenities over a missing couch cushion for about 30 minutes, authorities said.
Lance Rachel Sr., 42, was charged with aggravated child abuse and assault by strangulation. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened on Dec. 7 at a home in Kissimmee, Florida, but was not reported until several days later.

The Sheriff's Office began investigating the incident on December 11th.
According to the sheriff's office, Rachel Sr. was furious that the couch cushions had shifted and accused her child of lying.
The sheriff's office said the suspect “maliciously” disciplined the child, yelling obscenities and physically abusing the child for 28 minutes.

Deputies say the victim was struck with a belt more than 50 times, strangled and called several derogatory names and other obscene language.
At one point, the suspect threatened to break the child's jaw, officers said.

Deputies say part of the incident was recorded on surveillance cameras in the home.
On Dec. 16, deputies interviewed Kimberly Rachel, 35, and she admitted to the incident. She was arrested and charged with failure to report known child abuse.
