Conor McGregor claims to be boxing Logan Paul with career at sad crossroads

Conor McGregor wants to do anything other than fight in the UFC.

The embattled UFC superstar posted on social media that he has agreed to box YouTuber Logan Paul in an exhibition gimmick match in India in 2025.

“Rumors of a match with” [Ilia] Toprio (sic) is false,” McGregor said in a social media post. “I have a preliminary agreement with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in an Indian boxing exhibition. We have agreed. Then I will seek a return to the Octagon.”

Topria is the UFC featherweight champion and has been feuding with McGregor on social media.

“Rumors of a fight with Muchkin are false. I do not fight or have any interest in fighting a rapist,” Topuria wrote in X, referring to McGregor's recently lost civil suit. .

McGregor previously missed his fight against Michael Chandler in July just 10 days earlier with a broken toe.

He hasn't fought in the UFC since July 2021, when he suffered a disastrous loss to Dustin Poirier in which he broke his tibia.

While McGregor certainly stands to earn an exorbitant amount of money for his proposed boxing match, fans should continue to look forward to the level of excitement the fight will bring.

At his peak, the 5-foot-9 McGregor weighed 145 pounds and was a UFC champion.

The 6-foot-2-inch Paul weighed 189.5 pounds when he boxed 44-year-old Floyd Mayweather to a draw in 2021.

McGregor also faced Mayweather in 2017, losing by TKO in round 10.

McGregor may run into some problems while preparing for the event. No fighter has ever boxed outside of the UFC without having the UFC as a co-promoter.

The UFC also rejected Francis Ngannou's request to box Tyson Fury in 2023, citing contractual disagreements, without any involvement from his former employer.

Ngannou is currently fighting for the PFL.

Prior to this unconfirmed matchup announcement involving Paul, McGregor and the UFC certainly weren't on the best of terms.

McGregor now plans to appeal a civil lawsuit after a jury found him liable in a case brought against him by Irish woman Nikita Hand, who accused him of rape.

McGregor strongly denies that anything non-consensual happened during the exchange.

The 36-year-old has two fights remaining on his contract with the UFC, and if his contract is terminated due to Dana White's promotion, the 36-year-old will be a free agent in the martial arts world at that point.
