Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) said federal employees will support Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts by sharing ideas for change within government.
“We're reaching out to federal employees. They're seeing it. Many of these employees are frustrated as well. They're also taxpayers. They want federal employees to be more efficient. We're also asking them to share their ideas with us so we can actually solve this problem,'' Lankford said on FOX. told on the news.
Comments from Mr. Lankford, Founding Member of the DOGE Executive Board reported via Fox News – The announcement comes as lawmakers eye DOGE as a potential reform vehicle.
The advisory committee's co-leaders, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, met with Republicans on Capitol Hill earlier this month to discuss DOGE's plans. They set a lofty goal of cutting spending by $2 trillion.
Some Democrats are getting on board as well, with Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) and Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) saying they will join the DOGE caucus.
Some left-wing lawmakers even suggested they would be open to working with DOGE on the defense budget.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) took aim at the U.S. defense budget for possible cuts made by DOGE in an op-ed published last week.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said earlier this month that Musk is “right” about defense spending because the Pentagon is “losing billions of dollars in funding.”
