Michael Vick has reportedly been hired as the head coach of college football.
The former NFL star quarterback is set to become the head coach of the Norfolk State football program, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
Vick told the outlet on Monday that he was in talks about potentially taking over the show.
“I know how to lead and I know what it takes,” he told the newspaper.
According to ESPN, Vick was also rumored to be another college head coaching candidate at Sacramento State.

“He has expressed interest in the position and certainly met with him regarding his interest in Sac State football and improving our athletics. As you can imagine, given the success of our athletic program. “The job of our head football coach is a very important one. Vick was a cover player for EA Sports' Madden NFL 2004. That year's version of the video game made Vick one of the fastest players in the game and one of the fastest quarterbacks in series history.
However, Vick's career and reputation took a turn for the worse in 2007.
Vick infamously pleaded guilty to funding a dog fighting operation and spent nearly two years in prison, forcing him to miss the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Vick needed to restore his image, so the NFL allowed him to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he spent five seasons after being released from prison in 2009. He also joined the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers before retiring in 2015.

Vick stepped into the coaching world in the summer of 2017, joining Kansas City Chiefs and former Eagles head coach Andy Reid as a coaching intern. After training camp that year, he joined FOX's NFL as an analyst.
In April 2018, Vick was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football. However, just before the season began, head coach Kevin Coyle announced that Vick would not work as offensive coordinator, but would remain with the team as a consultant.
Vick has never coached at the collegiate level, but he has the chance to help rebuild the program after a 4-8 season in 2024.
