A suspect has been detained in connection with the murder of a senior Russian general in Moscow.
Although his name has not been specified, the suspect is a man from the Republic of Uzbekistan who was born in 1995, according to Russia's Federal Security Service.
He is accused of detonating an explosive outside a residential building in Moscow on Tuesday, killing Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his aide Major IV Polikarpov.

The suspect said he was hired by Ukraine's special services to carry out the attack, which claimed responsibility on Tuesday.

According to a Russian statement translated into English, “Following their instructions, he arrived in Moscow, took a powerful homemade explosive device, placed it on an electric scooter and parked it near the entrance to the house of Mr. IA Kirillov. ” he said. “In order to monitor the addresses of military personnel, he rented a car-sharing vehicle and installed a Wi-Fi video camera in it, the footage of which was distributed online to organizers in the city of Dnieper (Ukraine).”
