That was the question facing Ross from the beginning, as neighbors he knew well, neighbors with whom he might have shared meals and stories, began lining up outside the gate.
Different responses to this ethical dilemma is embodied in the characters. Ross (McDonough) is a kind-hearted man who grudgingly turns away his neighbors while grappling with guilt over his decisions. Security team leader Jeff Erickson represents the other end of the spectrum. Erickson is undaunted and will use force against anyone who attempts to steal food. (“These people are refugees now,” he tells Ross.) Ross’ wife, Jenna, offers a different perspective: She believes the gate should be like this. to be opened and the neighbors allowed Living on the premises.

Throughout the ordeal, the group faces an information blackout. Reluctantly We know how other parts of America are dealing with it. Since there is no internet, no mobile phone, and no News broadcast. Shortwave radio provides the only source of communication, but the information it provides is sparse. Is FEMA providing assistance? No one knows.
