Crazed driver smacks, then robs NYC traffic enforcement agent in broad daylight attack: cops

In a broad daylight crash this week, a Queens driver jumped off the wheel while receiving a ticket, struck a traffic officer and stole his citation, police said.

Authorities say a uniformed NYPD traffic enforcement officer, 56, was on duty on 63rd Drive near Queens Boulevard around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday when Mark Garrido, 29, hit a white SUV with a ticket. It is said that he confronted her for cutting her.

Police said Garrido became angry and punched the deputy's hand after arguing with the deputy and took the summons from him.

Surveillance footage shows Garrido, wearing a black baseball cap, sweatshirt and sweatpants, jumping into an SUV and taking off, authorities said.

Deputies reported no injuries, police said.

Garrido, who lives in Ozone Park, about four miles from the scene, was arrested late Friday morning, authorities said.
