According to Mr. Romney's predictions, Mr. Johnson's chairmanship appears to be in an untenable position. Mr. Johnson either accepts the Democratic vote and remains chairman, overruling Mr. Trump's mandate and infuriating the Republican base, or he does not run for re-election.
Without a single Democratic vote, Johnson can only lose one Republican in the House. House Republican leaders told Breitbart News' Matt Boyle that as many as 25 House Republicans could vote against Johnson.
President Trump's confidence in Johnson appears to be worsening. He launched a move against Mr Johnson on Thursday by not committing to him remaining as chairman.
