New Christian Russell Brand has a message of hope for Lily Phillips.
Phillips, a 23-year-old British woman, recently completed a stunt in which she had sex with 100 different men within 24 hours. Degrading behavior became a hot topic documentary on youtubewhich went viral this month, sparking debates such as: The failure of liberal postmodern sexual ethics.
“Jesus loves Lily Phillips.”
After playing a clip from the documentary in which Phillips admitted to dissociating during the stunt, Brand suggested she knew it was a traumatic experience and was satisfied with sex and online attention. shared a personal message imploring Phillips to stop looking for sensations.
Instead, Brand encouraged Phillips and everyone to look for love in the right place: Jesus Christ.
“Lily Phillips, I can relate,” Brando said. “I've never really done anything like that, and I'm not even in numbers like that, but I've seen people commodify sex, turn to sex for some kind of fulfillment, and channel the energy of sex into something… I know what it’s like to use seeds as commercial products.”
“Sometimes I think it's an attempt to defibrillate the lower, lower divinity here. How often in the Bible it's talked about sexual sin and Christ as the Bridegroom and us. Please think about it. [the church] “I felt like a bride,” he continued.
“I pray that all of us who have been looking for love in the wrong places find what we are truly looking for,” Brand continued. “Rather than blaspheming everything, making everything a game, liking, clicking, clicking everything, but the dignity, holiness, and sacred love of each other.”
Finally, the brand urged people to “love one another” and “forgive each other.”
“There is a path home for all of us. Through personal change, we can transform our culture into something beautiful and seek the kind of use and connection we all truly desire.” he said.
Meanwhile, the brand I wrote In X, “Jesus loves Lily Phillips.”
It is true that Jesus loved Phillips, and it is also true that Jesus associated with people that polite society shunned, including prostitutes.
But Jesus did not simply “hang out” with such people, as if to forgive their sins. In fact, the Gospels show that Jesus confronted sin, encouraged repentance, and offered new life in the kingdom of God to those who repented. Most importantly, Jesus changed and redeemed sinners. Jesus did not leave them in the ruin of sin, but invited them to find true life in Him.
Jesus also declared this in one of his famous teachings: Recorded in Matthew 21:
I'm telling you the truth, Tax collectors and prostitutes will enter the kingdom of God before you [the religious leaders].for john [the Baptizer] I came to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and did not believe in him.
This radical statement gives hope to everyone, including Phillips. If we repent of our sins and follow Jesus, He will save us.
On the other hand, it is important to observe how Phillips' stunt exposes the failures of liberal sexual ethics.
“I think this tragedy is shining a light.” observed James Wood, Professor at Redeemer University.
“It's symbolic absurd reduction “It reveals the limits of such a consent-centered, choice-maximizing morality. “We lack categories to describe these forms,” he explained. Failure is involved. ”
Fortunately for you, Phillips, and for me, there is no deep darkness that the grace and power of Jesus Christ cannot overcome. Indeed, the tomb is empty.
