An Amazon delivery driver dumped dozens of packages on the side of a Massachusetts road days before the holidays, but the Grinch later told police he was “stressed.”

Confused and with no reports that the package had been stolen, the police officer called a local Amazon fulfillment center and handed over the item.

But on Monday, an Amazon delivery driver showed up at the station and admitted to dumping the package during his shift Saturday night, telling police he did it because of stress.

“At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and believe this is a personnel matter at Amazon,” Director Matthew Perkins said in a statement, adding that the unidentified driver plans to report the violation to a manager. Ta.

“I would like to commend Sgt. Sean Robert for spotting the unattended package during a routine patrol,” he added.

“Sergeant. Robert likely saved many local residents a Christmas headache by noticing these totes and hopefully returning them to Amazon in time for holiday delivery.”

While the incident has been resolved for Amazon customers in Lakeville, other customers across the country are also feeling the effects of a nationwide strike by Amazon warehouse workers in the midst of the holiday season.

On Thursday, Amazon employees picketed warehouses in New York City, Atlanta, Southern California, San Francisco, and Skokie, Illinois.

Hundreds of Amazon fulfillment centers across the United States have also been picketed in what the Teamsters union is calling the largest e-commerce protest within a week of Christmas.

“If your package is delayed during the holidays, it's because of Amazon's insatiable greed,” Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien said in a statement.

The Teamsters called on Amazon to begin negotiating a collective bargaining agreement. Amazon, on the other hand, claimed that the Teamsters forced many of its employees into their ranks.

“For more than a year, the Teamsters have intentionally misled the public by claiming to represent 'thousands of Amazon employees and drivers,'” an Amazon spokesperson said. , added that the Teamsters have “actively intimidated and intimidated” employees into participating.
