‘Baby Driver’ actor Hudson Joseph Meek, 16, killed after he falls out of moving car

The young actor's life came to a tragic end when he fell from a moving car just days before Christmas.

Hudson Joseph Meek, 16, suffered blunt force injuries after falling from a car in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, just south of Birmingham, on the night of December 19th.

Two days later, on Dec. 21, the “Baby Driver” actor passed away “peacefully” from his wounds.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” his mother, Lani Wells Meek, posted. her facebook page. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and had such an impact on everyone he met.”

The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating how the incident occurred. NBC affiliate station WVTM reported.

“He was surrounded by friends, family and the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Meek's obituary read. “The family is relieved to know that Mr. Hudson is an organ donor and will continue to help others for many years to come.”

He is from Alabama, best known for acting He played the role of Young Baby in the three-time Oscar-nominated film Baby Driver. But he also guest-starred on the Emmy-nominated TV series MacGyver and did voice-over work for Toys R Us, McDonald's, and the online video game League of Legends.

“Hudson was also a great actor.” His obituary added: “He has worked on several major films and TV shows, some of which are scheduled for release in 2025. He has had the opportunity to spend time on set and learn the names and stories of all the cast and crew. I loved it.”

As a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, Meek had a very active life outside of the movies, playing on the football team, singing in the honor choir, and serving on student council.

Outside of school, he earned his advanced certification in open water scuba diving at age 14 and visited all 50 states in the United States.

“Hudson's personality was unique,” his obituary said. “He was confident, sure of his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted. He never let facts get in the way of a funny story and loved a good friendly joke.” It was.”

He is survived by his parents, siblings, grandmother, aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama.

His family created the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, which annually awards a student at Vestavia Hills High School. In lieu of sending flowers, people are asked to donate to the foundation, the memorial said.
