An actor has been found guilty of attempted murder after he stabbed his ex-girlfriend, a celebrated Hollywood makeup artist, over 20 times during a home invasion. This verdict was delivered on a Friday.
Nick Pascal, who has had roles in various shows including How I Met Your Mother, now faces a potential life sentence for his attack on Arie Shehorn in her Sunland, California home back in May 2024.
As she testified in a San Fernando courthouse, Shehorn showed her scars, a stark reminder of the brutal assault. She had spoken out about her experience during the jury trial last week, and ABC7 provided coverage of her emotional testimony.
In her 37 years, Shehorn shared her distressing encounters with Pascal, including the violent events that led to their split and prompted her to seek a restraining order.
“I locked the door, and he just started punching through it. I thought I could escape through the bathroom, but he forced his way in,” Shehorn recounted, tears in her eyes.
Pascal, aged 36, was convicted of numerous charges including attempted murder and domestic violence, as noted in the court records.
His sentencing is set for June 2nd.
Following the chilling attack, which happened around 4:30 a.m., Shehorn was discovered by her surrogate mother. Initially in critical condition, she underwent multiple surgeries in the hospital.
Shehorn had accused Pascal of horrific acts prior to this, stating that he had used a belt to break into her home, which resulted in serious injuries, including a concussion.
She suffered significant injuries, including deep cuts to her neck and arms, and spent nearly a week in the intensive care unit, fighting for her life.
Just a week after the attack, Pascal attempted to escape California, reportedly trying to cross into Mexico at the Sierra Blanca border but ended up being stabbed there.
Before the severe incident, records show that Pascal had attacked Shehorn at least four times.
A year before this terrifying attack, Shehorn had been recognized for her exceptional work in special effects makeup, winning Best SFX Makeup at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival for her contributions to a film called Incorrigible.
She is also involved in upcoming films such as “Rebel Moon: Part One” and “Babylon.” After her recovery, Shehorn made a comeback to the makeup scene and has credited nine projects since 2025, including an action comedy titled Code 3.
