Wife Of Former Syrian President, Asma al-Assad, Said To Have ’50/50′ Chance Of Surviving Leukemia

According to information from the UK, telegraph Asma al-Assad, the wife of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, is thought to have had a recurrence of the malignant blood cancer she was treated for earlier this year, and her chances of survival are low, according to newspapers. It is said to be “50%.”

The 49-year-old former first lady, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in May, is reportedly undergoing treatment for a malignant tumor in strict isolation in Moscow.

One source claimed she was “like dying”, while another told the paper. telegraph outlet “She's been 50-50 for the last few weeks.”

According to reports, Asma had been staying in Russia for some time as she was already receiving treatment there. Her husband fled to Moscow after Syrian rebel attacks toppled the regime earlier this month.

After the former president's rule ended and he took control of Damascus, Asma al-Assad and her husband were granted asylum in Russia.

Meanwhile, Turkish media reports that have surfaced claimed that she plans to file for divorce and move out of the country. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov insisted that these reports were false and that she was not seeking a divorce. He also denied that the former Syrian president's assets had been frozen.
