Overwhelming Majority of Americans Don’t Care About Celebrities’ Political Opinions

Americans, especially Republicans, don't want to hear political opinions from athletes or celebrities, an AP-NORC poll found.

Just under 40% of Democratic respondents said they support celebrities sharing their opinions on politics, compared to just 11% of Republicans and 12% of independents.

During the 2024 election cycle, many on the right repeatedly claimed that they did not care about celebrity endorsements because they were not “affected” by fiscal policy the way the middle and lower classes were.



The poll also found that Americans are trying to watch less media about government and politics, with 65% of respondents saying they feel this way due to “information overload, fatigue, or similar reasons.” 50% said they felt that way for similar reasons. overseas conflicts.

About 40% of respondents said they wanted to reduce their news intake due to “the economy and climate change.”
